Pledge overview

Making the most of the global tree-growing movement, Hari Krishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. in partnership with the Dholakia Foundation propels a promising initiative called Mission102030 which aims to grow 10 million trees by the year 2030. As a business committed not only to incorporating sustainable business practices having successfully achieved a 100% solar powered diamond manufacturing facility but also embodying environmental stewardship, Mission102030 aims to offset the environmental challenges posed by deforestation and carbon emissions. Prior to launching Mission102030, Hari Krishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. and the Dholakia Foundation had growed 2.8+ million trees across 25 locations in India. Through innovative strategies and wide-ranging participation to embody the “right tree, right place, and right community for the right reasons” principle, Mission 102030 aims to expand the world’s canopies, rejuvenate ecosystems, sequester carbon, and create a lasting impact on the global environment.

Our Mission102030 goes hand in hand with our Mission100X which is rooted in our theory of change - investing in natural capital (water and trees) which directly improves the local environment and benefits local farmers. Complementing Mission102030, Mission100X aims to conserve 100 billion litres of water by 2027 through rejuvenating freshwater bodies in drought-prone areas in Gujarat state in India. By far, we have completed the development of 141 lakes (as of December 2023) benefiting at least 250,000 locals and small holder farmers. As of 2023, Hari Krishna Exports Pvt. Ltd’s philanthropic arm, the Dholakia Foundation was named as a partner of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration aligning both Mission102030 and Mission100X to its mission of preventing, halting, and reversing the degradation of ecosystems both in land and water in every continent globally. With a vision to continue creating a space where thriving ecosystems coexist with human progress, we aim to continue the trajectory of contributing to global ecosystem restoration efforts over the next seven years.

Both Mission102030 and Mission100X align with India’s NDC commitment to create an additional carbon sink of 2.5 to 3 billion tonnes of CO2 equivalent through additional forest and tree cover by 2030 and to better adapt to climate change through enhanced investment in development programs in areas such as water resources.

Actions in this pledge

Our ecologically and socially responsible approach

Ecologically responsible and climate-informed: We closely work and engage with local and indigenous communities in the areas and regions which we operate.

Socially responsible: Aside from trees and forests, we also work in rejuvenating freshwater bodies especially in drought prone areas in Gujarat state. This intervention has significantly benefited the local farmers.

Our implementing partner is the Dholakia Foundation who is a partner of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. Therefore, we utilise the Principles for Ecosystem Restoration Guide to the UN Decade 2021 - 2030.
