About 1t.org

1t.org exists to connect, empower and mobilize a global reforestation community of millions, unleashing their potential to act at an unprecedented scale and speed, to ensure the conservation and restoration of one trillion trees within this decade.

There is already significant momentum and action around reforestation — there are many hundreds of organizations doing important work to conserve and restore forests at scale – for example: the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021 -2030, the Bonn Challenge, Trillion Trees Initiative, the Global Partnership on Forest and Landscape Restoration and many others.

  • such as the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration, the Bonn Challenge, the Global Partnership for Forest Landscape Restoration, and the work of many environmental NGOs like the Arbor Day Foundation, or WWF and their Trillion Trees initiative.

There is an opportunity to help join-up these initiatives (and many others) and provide them with support in critical areas – specifically helping to mobilize funds and political support, and allowing them to connect with, inspire and enable more champions and  entrepreneurs on the ground.

1t.org is being launched to help solve this issue and bridge this gap, creating a unifying platform for the reforestation community, mobilizing political will and resources, and providing a pathway for anyone who wants to help to join the reforestation movement — because every tree counts.

  • to harness their collective energy and ingenuity via a community-led, entrepreneur-led, innovation-led platform.
  • to drive more ambitious commitments from corporates, governments and philanthropists.
  • to amplify the work being done and mobilize millions more to get involved.

1t.org is a partnership

1t.org is a World Economic Forum initiative, designed to support the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021-2030, led by UNEP and FAO. 1t.org offers a platform for leading governments, businesses, civil society and ecopreneurs committed to serving the global trillion trees community.

Our mission:

To serve and empower the reforestation community.

To unlock the conditions needed to re-green our planet.

To break down the barriers preventing conservation and restoration at scale.

To connect the people that want to help with the people that can help them.

To play our part in the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration and assist others in doing the same.

To understand that time is not on our side and if we want to heal the planet, we must make every day count.

A platform for the trillion tree community.

How 1t.org works

1t.org will connect reforestation champions at the grassroots level with resources, opportunities and high-level leaders in science, technology, business, policy and finance — creating unprecedented access and connectivity within a single, purpose-driven digital space.

1t.org will be the first-of-its-kind online community for the reforestation agenda, enabling more effective dialogue and collaboration to support successful and exponential reforestation action on the ground.

1t.org will encourage and enable millions more grassroots reforestation champions by providing a digital platform (UpLink) to connect them with the opportunities, tools, and resources they need to thrive.

1t.org will work to overcome the many socio-economic barriers that hold reforestation back by catalyzing top-down system change — such as policy change, incentives, market creation and access to funding and technology

1t.org will work to raise the level of ambition and spending from business, governments and philanthropists, and provide guidance to turn that ambition into action.
